Why become a friend of the Dutch National Opera? Friends of the Dutch National Opera not only constitute an essential and loyal platform that helps keep this art form alive, but they also enjoy certain privileges. For instance, Friends receive the Vriendenbulletin four times per season, they have priority in ordering their special Friends ticket subscription and can join the opera movienights and operatours. Their contribution also enables the Friends of the Dutch National Opera to offer pre-performance introductions, thus furthering audience awareness.

In 2017 the association Friends of the Dutch National Opera will become part of Stichting Nationale Opera & Ballet Fonds.
Annual contribution for 2017/2018 will remain the same: € 45 individual membership, € 80 family membership (2 persons) and € 20 Fidelio membership

Friends will receive an information package including a form to sign up as an Opera Friend.

Exclusively for Friends
All your benefits in a nutshell:

Friends can sign up for the exclusive Friends subscription in January, in advance of the Dutch National Opera’s public subscription campaign.

LITERARY EVENINGS Aficionados of the literary aspect of opera meet at literary evenings to discuss and explore, together with an expert, the (largely classical) original texts.

Friends are entitled to make pre-reservations for a limited number of performances.

Each season the Friends organize various one-day excursions by coach to an opera house in Belgium and Germany to attend performances. Additionally, a longer excursion is organized each year to a prominent European opera festival.

At the end of each season, the Friends choose the best DNO production of the past season, and announce their choice for the best singer. This Prix d’Amis is presented during the traditional Christmas matinee, exclusively for Friends.

Four times per season you will receive the Friends bulletin, which includes extensive information about opera productions of the Dutch National Opera, interviews, an opera agenda, discography and an overview of all upcoming activities.

The Friends of the Dutch National Opera organizes a number of activities for its members, including opera excursions, film evenings, literary evenings, rehearsal attendance and other special events. As Friend, you are contributing to opera’s success now and for future generations. And as a Friend of DNO you also literally make friends. Friends enjoy their passion together with other friends. Because all the Friends have one thing in common: love of opera.
